The Shopify ecosystem reached incredible new heights in 2024. In total, Shopify processed $292B+ in GMV across 3m Stores, which included some of the largest brands to ever join the platform.
To support them, the Shopify App ecosystem continues to grow and mature. There are now 11k+ apps, presenting a big menu of tech options for virtually every part of the stack.
Expect to see many familiar logos, plenty of new ones, and some category changes that will come as a surprise.
Now, let’s hit “refresh” on the annual data and explore the most used tools (and those growing like crazy) in the Shopify space.

We pulled the raw dataset for this analysis from Store Leads on February 16th, 2025 and cleaned it with series of transformations:
The relative % of Shopify store penetration is based on the Active Shopify domain store count for est. $1m+ stores post-data transformations (103,094 distinct domains). While certain Shopify apps and technologies may be installed and tracked, they are not necessarily in active use. Also, Store Leads cannot track certain apps and technologies, so those will not show up in this analysis.
For the purposes of this analysis, we looked primarily at apps that Shopify brands use and pay for. Exclusions include:
